N2合格でビジネスが日本語で何とかできるとされるが語彙・敬語知識は不充分。日本では相手に敬意を払う為に敬語が使われ、ビジネス日本語の中核も敬語学習。店員も敬語で話し、敬語が分からないのは不便。ただ敬語学習は複雑な為JLPT N3レベル以上の方が対象。

Business Japanese: If you pass N1, you have enough vocabulary for your business, but it doesn't mean you can talk in honorifics.Those who pass N1 also need to study honorifics properly once. ◆ て形 - 補足◆

「~てください」が、通常 "Please do ~ "と英訳されるので、

「"Please do ~ " は “soft command” だよ。」と言った英国人がいたが、

「~てください」＝ "Please do ~ " ＝ “soft command” は、正しい理解。

「~てください」は最初に初級で習う基本依頼表現。十分に丁寧な依頼の仕方とは

言い難い。日本語にはより丁寧な依頼表現が色々ある。「~てください」は、

小学校や中学校で先生が生徒に対してよく使う。「お願いします。」を付け加え、

「〜てください。お願いします。」と言うと、より丁寧なお願いの仕方になる！

The expression request "~ tekudasai” is usually translated into English as “Please do ~''.

One British learner said that "Please do ~” is a “soft command." Yes. It

is correct to think of "~tekudasai" as a "soft command".

The expression "~tekudasai " is the basic request expression that is first learned at the

beginner's level. It's hard to say that this is a polite enough way to

make a request. In Japanese, there are various more polite expressions

for requesting something. The expression "~tekudasai " is often used by teachers to

students in elementary and junior high schools.

Add "onegaishimasu" and say "~tekudasai. Onegaishimasu." This

makes your request more polite.

♪ 英語を日本語にする時、英文の後ろから日本語にしていくと大体上手くいく。前にも話したが、文の構造とそれを土台とする思考回路が、日本語は全体像から入り一点に焦点を絞っていくのに対し、英語は一点から全体像へ広げていくことに起因していると思われる。又、面白いことに、午前・午後、白黒、あちこち、行ったり来たりの語順が日本語と英語で逆であることにお気づきだろうか。日本語では、午前7時 /午後7時、と午前午後が珍しく語の前に来るが、英語では 7:00 a.m./ 7:00 p.m. のように a.m.と p.m. が珍しく語の後に来る。白黒 black and white、あちこち here and there、行ったり来たり come and goと言った具合。どうして語順が逆なのか。もちろん夫妻/夫婦 husband and wife のように語順が同じものもあり、全部が全部逆ではないが、いたって興味深い。　　では又次回！
♪ When translating English into Japanese, it usually works well if you translate from the end of the English sentence into Japanese. As I talked about this before, in Japanese, sentence structure and the thought process based on it starts with the big picture and focuses on a single point, whereas in English the single point expands to the big picture. This is probably why translating from the end of an English sentence into Japanese usually works well. Also interestingly, have you noticed that the word order of am/pm, black and white, here and there, come and go are reversed in Japanese and English? Unusually, am and pm come before words in Japanese, but after them in English.
e.g. 午前7:00=7:00 a.m. 午後7:00=7:00 p.m., 白黒 black and white, あちこち here and there, 行ったり来たりcome and go, like this. Why is the word order reversed? Of course, there are words that have the same word order, such as 夫妻fusai/夫婦fuufu: husband and wife. Not evetything is reversed, but very interesting.
午前gozen: a.m. 午後gogo: p.m.
白shiro: white 黒kuro: black
あちachi: there こちkochi: here
行ったりittari: go 来たりkitari: come
